Brussels sprouts - Food photography

Dinner is often late

One of the downsides while engaging in food photography is that distraction is never far away. It often happens that, when I am busy preparing dinner, I get fascinated by the color, shape or texture of the ingredients. Next thing I know, I have the camera in my hands to take pictures. If it looks promising, I’ll get the tripod. Sometimes while I’m shooting, I see a place with better light. So I move everything to that place to catch that light. If it becomes too dark for photographing with daylight, I drag  a soft box to the setup. When I am somewhat satisfied I put the camera aside and continue cooking.
Then, when my husband arrives home late from work , I tell him with a big smile on my face: “Hi darling, I’ve been waiting especially for you with dinner.”

Have your say
